why was "night stalker" ended after episode 6?

i mean, the "night stalker" remake which starred Stuart Townsend as Carl Kolchak. it was ended after episode 6 on 10th november 2005 due to low ratings. i personally think that this show is very good. so why was it received "low ratings"? and what does it mean by "low ratings"? lack of viewers or the show was simply not good enough? kindly give your opinions/comments/explanations.

Yeah that was a good show, its just so hard nowadays to keep shows on the air unless they are big hits. there are SO many good shows to watch and they all come on between 8 and 10 pm on week nights its. And unfortunatley, as much as i love it, American Idol is a television show serial killer. Nothing can compete with it, and its on 2 days a week, sometimes 3 in the begining.
