can i press charges on my land lord?
on friday while i was out running errands, between 230 and 415, my landlord came into my house with out my consent or knowledge, and took my 7 kittens. he knew they were going to a farm later that evening. he claims he took them to a shelter, but i have called and checked all the shelters within 30 miles where i live, and there are NO reports of 7 kittens coming in over the weekend. i know he killed them but i cant prove it.
i live in utah but i cant find a clear law about whether its illegal to shoot cats. what can i do?
"i know he killed them but i cant prove it." - Without proof, there is not a lot you can do. He can't be arrest just because you think he might have done it. The police will need some evidence that proves he did do the crime before they will file charges against him.
This doesn't mean you can't file a report, though. It probably will not very far, and all they will do is question him about it. But he will probably just tell them the same thing he told you, and it would be such a minor crime that the police are not going to spend a lot of time and money investigating it.
