How is it that there is a sudden resurgence in Betty White's popularity?

She was always one of my favorite actresses because she was in The Mary Tyler Moore Show, but it seems that she is more the butt of a joke by kids these days. Same with Cloris Leachman. She was a classy actress in her day, but recently she has made some questionable career moves in the roles she chooses. Are these women that hard up for money?

It seems to me that Betty White is having a lot of fun and enjoying the resurgence in popularity. As long as she's enjoying herself (which I think she is), then all is good, right?
